Niwot is a quiet community set amid views of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains and situated just off the highway between Longmont and Boulder. People here know their neighbors and come out for community events such as the famous Rock & Rails summer concert series at Whistlestop Park, which is free. First Friday art walks, Oktoberfest, and the Great Pumpkin Party, and the Enchanted Evening and holiday parade. 
 
Recreation abounds with trails throughout town that connect to the extensive trail systems in Longmont and Boulder. Nearby Boulder Reservoir offers swimming, boating, jogging, biking, and bird watching. 
 
Niwot is home to excellent public and private schools.
 
The town is named after Arapahoe Indian Chief Niwot, a tribal leader whose people hunted and fished the land and was here when the gold miners arrived in 1858. Niwot means Left Hand.

  • IBM’s Boulder Campus, located just across Hwy 119
