The town of Erie is approximately 9.5 square miles with a population of just over 18,000 people. The town straddles Boulder and Weld counties and is situated about 30 minutes from downtown Denver and about 20 minutes from Downtown Boulder. This makes Erie an ideal location for a number of home buyers in the front range. With the completion of Northwest Parkway and E-470, the drive time to DIA (Denver International Airport) is just about 35 minutes making it easy for travelers.
Erie is a vibrant community with many favorable, wide ranging residential neighborhoods and the ever popular Historic Downtown Business District. This is an eclectic mix of businesses, shops, eateries, and host to many of the local annual events.
There are a variety of activities in and around Erie which have brought new vitality to the town which was once a home to coal mines, railroads and agriculture. Enjoy playing 18-holes at the championship golf course, the new community center and library, the town’s skate park, or head up to one of Colorado’s world-class ski resorts which are just over an hour’s drive away.
The community of Erie was settled by the Rev. Richard Van Galesburg around 1867, who was a Methodist pastor. He named the community after his hometown of Erie, Pennsylvania, and in the year 1874, the town of Erie was incorporated.
